Pink Christmas Inspiration
Last year was a different kind of Christmas. No parties, no get-togethers, no hosting for me. If you’ve been with me for a while, you will know that that did not stop me from decorating, celebrating & dreaming up all the pretty details even if it was just for me and my husband.
Well The Atelier Collective’s Virtual Conference & Holiday Party in 2020 gave me another reason to dress up, decorate & put together some ideas for making the holidays special at home.
Looking through these photos a year later, I am glad I pushed myself to create despite not having my usual visitors and parties. I am glad I tried something new and I hope this fun & feminine Christmas story inspires you too!
First, let’s talk about choosing a general theme. Everything doesn’t necessarily have to match, but my favourite word when it comes to designing anything is intentional. Whatever you do, choose intentional themes, pieces, feelings you are trying to evoke and you will end up with a thoughtful & cohesive design.
Since The Atelier’s look generally includes pink, I thought it would be fun to try something new (since of course I always gravitate to the blues) and design a holiday party centred around pink. The general theme of the conference was to also thrive beyond 2020 so I chose to embody Elle Woods and her can-anything spirit and channeled that into my wardrobe & styling choices. Overall, I wanted this to be an experience that Elle herself would love to attend.
Now mind you, I was creating this with a minimal budget, very strict time constraint and in the middle of a pandemic where even buying ribbon is a whole ordeal.
With the theme in mind, I wanted to find some fun holiday ready looks to make the experience that much more special even though it was virtual. Enter dress rental heaven: Fitzroy Rentals. I chose this gorgeous pink tulle dream of a dress for the main “event”, this Amanda Uprichard mini for a cocktail look and this wine coloured ultra-flattering midi for a little holiday dance break. This isn’t an ad or anything but I just adore Fitzroy for special event rentals. Not only is it so fun to visit them in studio and have your own try-on party but you can always find something unique for a special occasion instead of spending hundreds on something you will only wear once.
Next, I picked out some beautiful textured pieces from Simply Beautiful Decor to bring this pink Christmas tablescape to life. Mixing pink & white plates with the lovely blush glassware & pink & gold accents in the decor, the end result was a classy yet fun dinner ready spread. Here’s a tip: you don’t always need florals for a romantic and cohesive table. Using only mixed pink pillar candles, wrapped boxes, ornaments & an ornament adorned chandelier, the entire table came together. Write each guest’s name on a simple ornament for an easy and festive place card and when in doubt, add more bows!
And finally, the festive bar cart. This is one of my favourite elements to style when freshening up our home for every season and this Elle Woods-esque Christmas set up was no exception. Glittery, pink & oh so festive, I loved playing around with mirrors, fabrics & ornaments to bring it all together.
Playing my favourite holiday records, mixing up a new festive cocktail, dancing around in pretty dresses — it was the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit.
