Romantic Valentine's Day Brunch at Home
It’s Love Week! It’s no surprise I love love & although I truly believe we can bring that V-Day magic into any day of the year, it’s nice to get in the spirit since it’s cold, we’re all feeling all the feelings & just really, really, REALLY need some love.
Whether it’s for yourself, your partner, your family member, your friend - I’m all about making even ordinary things a bit more special at home. Looking to put together something special but don’t want to do a dinner? Try a romantic brunch instead! Valentine’s Day is on a weekend (and a long one at that!) so if you’ve got brunch on your mind, here is what I recommend for a relaxed & romantic mid-day treat.
Flowers
Can’t go wrong with flowers. They will brighten your mood instantly and last at least a week to bring you joy again and again. I picked these up while getting our groceries and fluffed them up a bit to make them more special. We’ve got some more coming from our local floral shop as well. Plus, the smell is instantly romantic, nostalgic and spring-like.
Music
Make a playlist of your favourite love songs or put on a record that instantly makes you feel happy & calm. Do you have a song that’s “your song”? Put it on and ask your partner to dance. Right in your kitchen or living room, wherever you are. Take a moment just for you and physically hold them tight, name something you’re grateful for, remind them how much you love them.
The table
If you know me, you know how much I love creating a good tablescape and elevating a casual brunch is no exception. Here is your exclusive sneak peek at some of the items coming to the Pastiche Boutique next month! The beautiful charger plates (used here as dinner plates) and matte gold flatware are going to be a part of the permanent collection! Some pretty glasses, colourful linens and voilà! The kitchen table is transformed!
to eat
I went with the classic Belgian waffles - cut into hearts of course with some berries, fresh grapefruit & coconut yoghurt parfait cups.
To drink
Bubbly! Rosé! Mimosas! Coffee! Tea! Whatever you go-to, treat yourself and toast to each other and your love.
Bonus!
A special activity. Do something for yourselves. Dive into some emotions, do a puzzle, go down memory lane and look at old travel photos or wedding photos. I love filling out these couple books. This one asks some really deep questions and will be so nice to look back on as it spans multiple years of us filling it out. We have another one that my friends gifted us for our wedding that has one question per day for the first year of marriage. Go for a walk, a drive, have a snowball fight, bubble bath, put on a movie, take a nap, try something new… make the best of the time you have together and celebrate your love.
Let me know what your plans are for this weekend and I hope you enjoyed some of these ideas!
